Dr.P.Sojan Lal-M.Tech,MBA(UK),DBA(USA),PhD,FIE(India) Principal

 
 

Dr. P. Sojan Lal has 35 years of blended experience in Administration, Industry, Academia, Research, and many voluntary services in India and abroad. He received Best Principal Award 2021 by CEGR (Centre for Education Growth and Research), New Delhi, India. He has authored 6 technical books, published either in Germany or in India, and are mostly available through Amazon. Another 2 computer science-related books which are available on Amazon have been recently published in English,  French, German, Spanish,  Portuguese, and Italian languages. He was an approved research supervisor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India; University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India; and presently supervising research aspirants at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, India.   Dr. Sojan Lal has authored 75 technical papers, had patents and supervised  6 Ph.D. scholars.  During his tenure as Principal, MBITS engineering college, Kothamangalam got B++ NAAC accreditation in 2020. MBITS was listed in the New Code of Education Compendium in 2021 and 2022 by Wheebox and the esteemed jury was, PROF. ANIL D. SAHASRABUDHE, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, DR. (MRS.) PANKAJ MITTAL, Secretary-General, Association of Indian Universities, Ex. Addn. Secretary, University Grants Commission, and DR. PREM SINGH, Adviser, NITI Aayog. MBITS also received the Edufuture Excellence National Award 2021 under the category "Outstanding Innovation by Engineering Institute" by Zee Media, India, and the esteemed Jury team led by Ms. Pooja Kapoor, Ambassador of India to Denmark. He has taken the lead in organizing 46 free national and international webinars as Panel Lead in 2020-21 periods, attended by more than 18,850 participants from 2,000 institutions in India and abroad. Dr. Sojan Lal was the Moderator for the weekly online meetings conducted by the Water Resource Department, the Government of Kerala, and selected engineering colleges in the state for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the rejuvenation of 21 highly polluted rivers in Kerala during 2020-21 (https://wrd.mbits.ac.in/).  He has been serving as the Principal of MBITS since 2016 and was the nodal canter coordinator for the 2017 AICTE Smart India Hackathon (SIH) at MBITS. Under his joint mentorship, MBITS teams won AICTE Smart India Hackathon - Hardware Edition in 2019 and 2020.

Dr. Sojan Lal has the world record for the highest number of publications within the shortest period in 2014. He has been listed in “Marquis Who's Who in the World” since 2009, representing the world's most accomplished individuals. Dr. P Sojan Lal is a recipient of "The Panel Award" from ADCO, ADNOC Group, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He has also received "The Health, Safety, and Environment Man of the Month award twice from ADCO, UAE. Altogether, he received about 50 awards/appreciation for his commendable contributions in India and abroad. He was the secretary of the NIT-Warangal alumni association Kerala chapter from 2016 to 2020 and has continued to serve as its Vice President since then. He also served as President, of the YMCA Pothanicad unit from 2018  to 2021. Dr. Sojan Lal is an active member of Lions Club International since 2012, serves as Secretary,  ASSOCIATION OF PRINCIPALS OF ENGINEERING COLLEGES IN KTU (APECK, Kerala) since 2021, and has been an active Committee member of The Institution of Engineers (India), Kerala State Centre representing the Computer Engineering Division since 2022.

Dr. Sojan Lal is a member of ASME (Formerly District (J)) operating board member, Middle East, and Africa, one among 3 director board members, a Life Member of CSI & ISTE, and a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India), since 2004. He was the Brand Ambassador of PAN NIT, alumni association, Middle East (2013-15).

Principal's Message

We are extremely glad to announce that the National Assessment and Accreditation council (NAAC) accredited MBITS until 2025.

We are delighted to note that MBITS is the only institute from Kerala, listed in the "New Code of Education awards 2021". The New Code Education Awards celebrates collective efforts of Educationists from Higher Education in India that are striving to build, enable and disrupt best digital practices for 'Future of Education'. Wheebox, the organisers published a compendium of "Top 25 Universities and Formal Education Institutions in India" that are designing, enabling and innovating Future of Education with best practices in Learning, Assessments, Employability, Teacher Enablement and Future Readiness for next generation of Education Institutions. The esteemed jury were, PROF. ANIL D. SAHASRABUDHE, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, DR. (MRS.) PANKAJ MITTAL, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, Ex. Addn. Secretary, University Grants Commission, and DR. PREM SINGH, Adviser, NITI Aayog.

During 2020, MBITS team took initiative to set up a Learning Management System (LMS) using Google platform. Hence our students could attend their regular classes without much disruption during Covid19 pandemic. We conducted international and national free webinars on various relevant topics, 60 talented experts handled the sessions and 17,000  participants got benefited from about 1800 institutions in India and abroad (https://webinar.mbits.edu.in/). Other regular programs like students admission, induction programme, farewell, Parent Teacher Meetings, PhD final viva, PhD doctoral committee meeting for student admission, university examinations, promotion of Open Online Massive Courses (MOOC) and office automation was particularly carried out during Covid19 pandemic. The commendable works done by the Education 4.0 Implementation Committee of MBITS are appreciated.

MBITS team supported tie-up between Water Resources Department, Government of Kerala and Engineering Colleges in Kerala by facilitating and technically managing the weekly virtual meetings for the preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for highly polluted 21 rivers in Kerala based on National Green Tribunal (NGT) order, during December 2020 to February 2021. The MBITS Team prepared the DPR for Muvattupuzha – Kaliyar River, though it’s not listed in the highly polluted rivers of Kerala and started with a portable water well survey.

We are extremely happy to share the national level victory by our student Mr. Ganesh Sreedhar and the teams won 1st prize in Smart India Hackathon (SIH)-Hardware edition-2019 and 2020. More than 2 lakh students from 2000 institutions participated in the event.  Congratulations to the entire team. MBITS was earlier selected as one among the two nodal centers of SIH in 2017 from Kerala to host it.

MBITS NSS Team won “Punerjani Award” twice from Government of Kerala for recreation of assets worth Rs 83 Lakhs in Government hospitals. Film club team won Kerala state level first prize and Rs one Lakh cash award in 2019 for short film completion among all colleges, including arts, science, Management, Engineering, Pharmacy and Medical.

It’s worth mentioning that 100 % results were there for more than 260 theory papers in the last 5 years of University examinations. We are extremely glad to note that our B.Tech S8 students secured 98.8% overall pass based on 2020 university results. Congratulations to all students, staff, parents and Management for this victory.

Some typical socially relevant projects undertaken by MBITS are; Design, testing and implementation of Pneumatic Jack and Wrench in breakdown van of KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation). This is first of its kind project in Kerala for KSRTC; Newsletter Android app developed for Pothanicad Grama Panchayath, in connection with ISO certification of the Panchayath. 

All India 4th position for Quad Torc (The Off Road Design Championship introduced by Indian Society of New Era Engineers), and selected one projects each in KPIT Sparkle in 2019 and 2020 (Theme: Mobility and energy for the future) are some of the typical commendable projects. We are delighted to note that more than 25 MOUs signed including NIT, Warangal; TELK, Angamali and DRJ Telecom, USA. 

A ground water recharging system was constructed, a rainwater harvesting tank with 6.5 lakh litters capacity and green campus are some other typical distinct features of MBITS.

MBITS is an approved centre for online examination since 2012 and continued as online examination centre During Covid19 for various prestigious exams like GATE, CAT, JEE, JIPMER, AIIMS, RRB (Railway Recruitment Board), Airport Authority of India - Air Traffic Control, SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission – Junior Engineer), IWAI (Inland Waterways Authority of India),  TCS – NQT (Tata Consultancy Services – National Qualifier Test), ECGC – PO (Export Credit  Guarantee Corporation of India – Probationary Officer), IBPS PO (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection – Probationary Officer),  SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India),  NEET MDS (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery), MICAT 2020 (Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad – Admission Test), JOINT CSIR - UGC NET, UPSC CMS – (Combined Medical Services Exam 2020), (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) and Indian Army Medical Services etc
